Your car heater works by taking the heater from your car radiator and circulating it through a fan system which blows hot air in to your car. This system is usually pretty reliable but on occasions it can suffer from blockages and leaks. If you decide you want to repair the heating system yourself it can usually be done fairly easily without spending a lot of cash on labor costs.

Hopefully this how to repair your car heater guide will help you fix your car heater problems!

1) Check your heater for blockages and leaks. These are the number one cause of car heater problems and are the easiest to fix, although you usually need spare parts. The heaters that connect the heater and the radiator can occasionally split.

2) If your heater has a summer valve try opening it up for a while, it can make a huge difference!

3) If the fan has stopped working then this will need replacing. Car blower fans are easy enough to replace, but you must remember to drain the coolant system. A specific guide on how to replace your cars blower fan can be found in your car manual, as this tends to be different for each car make.

4) If the car heater core needs to be replaced then you will also need to check your car service manual. It is hard to tell if teh car heater core is the part that is broken, and you may need to pull it out and check manually!
